Computer Science Instructor at BloomTech
If you’re eager to impart your knowledge of computer science fundamentals but aren’t sure where to start – keep reading! BloomTech is seeking part-time JavaScript developers to teach in an immersive, live, online classroom setting. This role offers a flexible schedule with courses available throughout the week, allowing you to choose the times that work best for you. You can expect to commit up to 15-20 hours per week.

Salary: USD 30/hour
About the Role
As a Computer Science Instructor at BloomTech, you will teach new developers the fundamentals of computer science, including:
- Algorithmic problem-solving
- Big-O and time-space complexity
- How to use hash tables to optimize algorithms
You will prepare these students for exciting careers in software development, ensuring they can pass the General Coding Assessment at the end of their studies.

Key Responsibilities as Computer Science Instructor at BloomTech
- Teach live classes on Zoom via live code-along, explaining complex concepts simply using real-life examples, exercises, and storytelling.
- Provide learner support, encourage struggling learners, and challenge those who are excelling.
- Provide curriculum feedback and report learner progress.
- Prepare learners to pass the General Coding Assessment, launching their new career as software engineers.
What You Will Be Doing
- Teaching on Zoom via live code-along sessions.
- Explaining complex concepts simply, using real-life examples, exercises, and storytelling.
- Encouraging and supporting learners who are struggling while challenging those who are excelling.
- Providing feedback on the curriculum and reporting on learner progress.
What You Will NOT Be Doing
- Managing other instructors or teaching assistants.
- Tutoring students one-on-one; instead, your professional expertise will form the foundation of teaching the technical skills required for success in the real world.
- Traveling for conferences, meetings, or training, as BloomTech is a 100% remote team.
Candidate Requirements
- One of the following combinations of education and industry experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree + 3 years of software industry experience.
- A coding boot camp certificate that required at least 900 hours + 4 years of software industry experience.
- A high school diploma/GED + 5 years of software industry experience.
- 3+ years of experience with JavaScript.
- An engaging and compelling public speaker.
- Availability at 9 AM, 2 PM, 3 PM, and/or 6 PM PST.
Nice to Have
- Teaching or mentorship experience.
