About the Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship

The Opekete Foundation is pleased to announce the 2024 Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship (FBM) for aspiring nurses and educators in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This scholarship aims to empower the next generation of teachers and healthcare professionals in Nigeria by providing financial assistance to help them excel and innovate in their fields.

The scholarship is established in memory of the late Mrs. Florence Bamidele Makanjuola, who dedicated her life to teaching and nursing. Committed to promoting female self-dependence and improving the quality of education, the Opekete Foundation, through the Florence Fund, continues her legacy by supporting students who aspire to follow in her footsteps.

Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the FBM Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Citizenship: Must be a female Nigerian citizen.
  • Educational Level:
    • Secondary school applicants must be attending or intending to attend a public or federal government-owned Senior Secondary School.
    • University applicants must be enrolled or have gained admission into a public university in Nigeria.
  • Fields of Study: Applicants must intend to study Teaching, STEM, or Nursing at the university level.
  • Academic Qualifications:
    • Secondary School Applicants: Must have a minimum of 5 distinctions (grades A or B) in English, Mathematics, and any other 3 major subjects in the Junior WAEC.
    • University Applicants: Must have a minimum of 5 distinctions (grades A1-B3) in English, Mathematics, and any other 3 major subjects in WAEC/NECO in one sitting and meet the required JAMB cut-off score for their chosen course and institution.

Scholarship Benefits

  • Secondary School Students: Up to N350,000 per annum for each student.
  • University Students: Up to N650,000 per annum for each student.

Application Process

  • Application Deadline: September 15, 2024.
  • Screening: All applications will be reviewed by an independent consultant.
  • Announcement of Awardees: The successful candidates will be announced on or around October 30, 2024.
