Location: Northeast Nigeria

Research Assistants Job Summary

As a Research Assistant at Nuru Nigeria, you will play a crucial role in data collection, monitoring farm activities, and supporting community engagements. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Data Collection: Conducting primary data collection during surveys, assessments, and qualitative studies such as Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and Key Informant Interviews (KII) in Borno.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Ensuring adherence to data collection standards and performing quality checks.
  • Documentation: Properly documenting study materials, and attendance sheets, and providing daily updates on project progress.
  • Program Support: Collaborating with the program team to organize and report on farmer association activities.
  • Community Engagement: Acting as a liaison between the community and Nuru Nigeria to promote organizational goals and facilitate community-led interventions.

Qualifications and Requirements for Research Assistants

  • Education: HND / Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Sciences, Social Research, Development Studies, Linguistics, or a related field. Alternatively, a Diploma plus two years of relevant experience in data collection.
  • Experience: Minimum of 6 months of experience (with a degree) or 2 years of experience (with a diploma) in data collection using surveys, focus groups, or interviews, ideally within an NGO setting.
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, ethical research conduct, excellent communication skills, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and mobile data collection platforms.
  • Additional Skills: Familiarity with Northeast Nigeria’s terrain, fluency in Babur, Hausa, and English, experience leading teams of enumerators, and facilitating adult learning are advantageous.
