This performance-based bursary program, with a work-back/pay-back obligation, offers comprehensive support to talented individuals planning to study full-time towards an undergraduate degree in selected Engineering, Science, and Technology fields at recognized South African universities.
About the Sasol Foundation Bursary Program
The Sasol Mining Fence-line Bursary Program aims to attract exceptional young talent to join the organization. This fully funded bursary covers the full duration of studies, leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering in Technology.
Requirements
The bursaries are available to students from their first to fourth academic year of studies in 2024, pursuing the relevant qualifications. The specific academic requirements are as follows:
Academic Requirements
First-Year Applicants:
- Submit Grade 12 results.
Second-Year Students:
- Submit first-year results.
Third-Year Students:
- Submit second-year results.
Fourth-Year Students:
- Submit third-year results.
Qualification Requirements
- B.Eng. and B.Sc.Eng
- Mathematics (not Maths Literacy): Level 6 (70-79%)
- Physical Science: Level 6 (70-79%)
- English First Additional Language: Level 5 (60-69%) or
- English Home Language: Level 5 (60-69%) or
- English Second Additional Language: Level 4 (50-59%)
- B.Eng. Tech.
- Mathematics (not Maths Literacy): Level 5 (60-69%)
- Physical Science: Level 5 (60-69%)
- English First Additional Language: Level 5 (60-69%) or
- English Home Language: Level 5 (60-69%) or
- English Second Additional Language: Level 4 (50-59%)
Students currently in their second, third, or fourth academic year must apply with the academic results of the previous study year (2023) and meet the specified minimum requirements.
Additional Requirements
- Full-time Studies: Must be registered for full-time studies towards the applicable degree at an accredited South African university (excluding UNISA and University of Technology, except for Mine Surveying).
- South African Citizenship: Applicants must be South African citizens with a valid ID document/card.
- Psychometric Testing: Shortlisted applicants must be willing to participate in online psychometric testing as part of the selection process.
- Academic Record: A full academic record (from the start date of studies to the end of 2023) and proof of registration are required.
- Proof of Residence: Proof of permanent home residence (municipality and district) is required.
- Residency Condition: The bursary offer will be withdrawn if it is determined that the student has not permanently resided in one of the specified municipalities during the application or awarding period.
- Completion Period: The bursary is contingent on the ability to complete the studies within a maximum of 5 years.

Important Notes
- Notifications regarding application status will be provided by the end of November.
- Bursaries are not available for students enrolled in dual/combined/hybrid degree programs.
- Incomplete or fraudulent applications will lead to the termination of the contract.
