Eligibility Requirements

For Undergraduate Applicants:

  • Must be domiciled in one of the eligible African countries and have resided there predominantly for the last three years.
  • Must be self-funded (not sponsored).
  • Not eligible for Medicine (MBChB), Dentistry (BDS), Architecture, or courses with an integrated foundation year.
  • Must select the University of Manchester as the FIRM UCAS choice by May 23, 2025.
  • Must be applying for direct first-year entry in 2025 with qualifications such as A-levels, IB Diploma, South African NSC or IEB, or NCUK International Foundation Year.

For Master’s Applicants:

  • Must hold an unconditional offer for a full-time on-campus master’s course starting in September 2025.
  • Must submit an online scholarship application form by April 25, 2025.
  • Not eligible for MBA, MPhil, Master of Architecture (MArch), Architecture and Urbanism (MA), Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA), Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), Clinical Medicine, or Dentistry degrees.

Scholarship Benefits

Undergraduate Awards:

  • Over 100 merit-based scholarships valued at £24,000 (£8,000 per year for three years), contingent on achieving a 60% average each year. The award is a discount on published overseas tuition fees.

Master’s Awards:

  • More than 230 merit-based scholarships of £15,000 each, based on academic excellence and the quality of your responses in the application form. This award is a discount on published overseas tuition fees.

How to Apply

  1. Apply for Admission: Start by applying for an undergraduate or master’s program at the University of Manchester.
  2. Scholarship Application Form: After receiving an academic offer, the scholarship application form will be emailed to you automatically. Forms will not be emailed until December 2024.
  3. Submit Application: Complete and submit the scholarship application form by the deadlines:
    • Undergraduate Deadline: April 24, 2025
    • Master’s Deadline: April 25, 2025
  4. Notification: Awards offers will be made by June 21, 2025, with decisions based on academic performance.
