About the WACCBIP Internship Program
The West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens (WACCBIP) DELTAS II program is a prestigious graduate internship designed to support new graduates in their transition from academic learning to professional research settings. As a Centre of Excellence for biomedical research, WACCBIP collaborates with international partners to conduct a broad range of research activities. The DELTAS II program is funded by the Science for Africa Foundation (SFA) with support from Wellcome and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO).
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for this internship program, applicants must:
- Completion of Undergraduate Studies: Must have completed their undergraduate studies by July/August 2024 and be registered for National Service.
- Field of Study: Applicants should have majored in one of the following disciplines:
- Biological Sciences
- Computer Science
- Chemistry
- Biomedical Engineering
- Business Administration
- Accounting
- Economics
- Political Science
- Sociology
- Psychology
- English Communication
- Linguistics
- Personal Attributes: Candidates must be hardworking, highly motivated, and have a strong interest in promoting scientific research.
Internship Responsibilities
The selected Graduate Intern will:
- Assist in Research Activities: Support various research projects at WACCBIP.
- Contribute to Training Programs: Help in the delivery of training programs organized by WACCBIP.
- Participate in Conferences and Workshops: Engage in research conferences and workshops to enhance their knowledge and professional network.
- Other Responsibilities: Perform any additional duties assigned by the Director or immediate supervisor.
Benefits
- Monthly Stipend: Interns will receive a monthly stipend as a top-up to their National Service allowance, providing financial support throughout the internship period.
