Administrative Assistant Job Summary
We are looking for eligible and qualified applicants to fill the role of Administrative Assistant (Management Staff Aide) in the Management Office. This position supports the work and responsibilities of the Management Counselor (MC) and Management Officer (MO) by providing logistical, administrative, and oversight duties, as well as performing project work as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Management Section in providing administrative services to Embassy Abuja and Consulate General Lagos.
- Serve as Management Staff Aide to the MC and MO, performing a full range of logistical and administrative duties.
- Assist with project work as required, ensuring smooth operations and efficient support for supervisors.
- Facilitate and oversee various administrative tasks, ensuring adherence to U.S. Mission policies and procedures.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Business Administration, or Public Administration is required.
Experience:
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an administrative, managerial, or policy-related position within the U.S. Government or a large multinational organization.
Language Skills:
- Fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English, with strong knowledge of English grammar and business writing.
Knowledge:
- Excellent understanding of support for visits or large events.
- Strong familiarity with the Department’s hierarchy and top officials.
- Detailed knowledge of Management and Department policies and practices (e.g., gifts, vehicle use, procurements, allowances, ethics).
- Good understanding of procedures at Nigerian Government Ministries, particularly the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient writing and editing skills with an excellent command of grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse groups.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and internet usage.
- Good numerical skills for reviewing vouchers and financial documents.
