Internship Requirements

General Requirements for All Internships

  • Must have an undergraduate degree and be enrolled in a full-time graduate program (pursuing a master’s degree or PhD) with plans to return to school full-time.
  • No age limit is specified.
  • Fluency in English is required.

Specific Requirements for World Bank Treasury Summer Internship

  • Must be enrolled in the second-to-last year of a four-year college degree program with an interest in finance, business, economics, or related fields.
  • Expected graduation between December 2025 and September 2026.
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Availability for full-time commitment during the internship.
  • Must not have concurrent employment or another internship.

Specific Requirements for World Bank Legal Internship Program

  • Must be a citizen of an IBRD member state.

Duration and Benefits

World Bank Treasury Summer Internship

  • Interns will be engaged on a short-term temporary contract, earning between $21.30 (net for non-US Citizens) and $26.00 (gross for US Citizens) per hour for 400 hours.
  • Interns are required to work in-person full-time in Washington, DC, from May 27 to August 4, 2025, with at least four days in the office per week.
  • Interns receive a World Bank laptop and, if necessary, a sponsored visa to work in the United States.

World Bank Legal Internship Program

  • Interns will handle various legal tasks under the guidance of supervising lawyers, including conducting legal research, comparative legal analysis, participating in project teams, and organizing meetings.
