Women for Africa Foundation (FMxA) Science by Women Program 2024
The Women for Africa Foundation is proud to announce the launch of the Science by Women program for the year 2024. This initiative is designed to empower African women in scientific research and technology transfer, enabling them to address critical challenges in key sectors such as health, agriculture, food security, water, energy, and climate change.
Program Overview:
The Science by Women program offers post-doctoral fellowships in collaboration with renowned Spanish Centers of Excellence. These fellowships aim to provide African women with the opportunity to enhance their research capabilities and contribute to scientific advancements on a global scale.
Fellowship Duration:
The fellowship duration is 6 continuous months, to be completed within 1 year and a half or 2 years, depending on the host research entity. The fellowship period begins from the date of publication of the final selection of beneficiaries.
Fellowship Requirements for Women for Africa Foundation:
Eligible applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be a woman with nationality and residence in an African country.
- Hold a PhD in the sciences area of expertise.
- Have a contractual relationship with a university or a public or private organization based in Africa dedicated to scientific research.
- Demonstrate an excellent academic record and a proven track of relevant research experience.
- Possesses solid working knowledge of English. Proficiency in English will be positively valued.
- Not be a beneficiary of previous editions of this program.
Benefits:
Successful candidates will receive the following benefits:
- Roundtrip flights from their city of origin to their host city.
- Monthly living allowance of 2600 euros gross per month, with a 24% tax applied. This stipend covers accommodation, personal expenses, and health and emergency insurance.
- Coverage of visa fees and administrative costs related to the visa application process.
- Possibility of financial aid to participate in seminars or congress during the fellowship period in Spain, subject to evaluation by the Science by Women program’s team.
- Responsibility for securing accommodation for the duration of the 6-month fellowship stay in the host city lies with the beneficiaries.
Application Requirements:
All applications must include the following documents:
- Motivation letter (maximum of 1 page).
- Full curriculum vitae, preferably in Europass format.
- Passport or ID document.
- Letter of support.
- Research proposal (maximum of 2 pages).
- Proof of confirmation of the research proposal by the Spanish host entity of choice.
